In the Park Slope area of Brooklyn, a young couple was looking to reimagine their kitchen and dining spaces- especially the ever-active play area for their two young children. A tidy kitchen refresh introduced a minimalist palette of Calacatta Gold marble, complemented by custom oak and lacquered cabinetry, integrated appliances and a built-in wine bar. Adjacent to this, a formerly cluttered storage area was redesigned to better utilize a niche under the second floor stair as a dedicated space for the kids to call their own. Taking the form of a wide window seat, the new stair wall features a custom coat and boot storage area along with ample storage for children’s books and toys. The custom Maharam upholstered bench lends a playful- but grown up- pop of color to the refined interior, while the white oak surround ties the adult’s and kid’s activity zones into a handsome new interior identity.
